Art Walk is over and being taken down today. It is so sad to see it go every year.
I wanted to write a quick note about what happens to my art.

You can still donate to Help Bri with her dream to become a teacher. The 100% donation piece and the poster with the link to her GoFundMe page are at the Galleria Kakku staircase behind the poster wall.

The other few pieces I had up for Art Walk are at my little shop at Small World Art Gallery & Mall alongside my Vio series.

Veljkissa / Brother cat - The Shared Adventure 2016 at SL13B

I really recommend this new project by Instincta Van Helsinki at SL13B. The festival opens June 19th at SL noon. I was lucky to assist Instincta in the project as a location and prop manager and costume designer, so I saw the whole creative process. There is the quality and style you would expect from her, with a lot of feeling and thought put into the story the piece tells. The sounds were by Stem Van Helsinki, whom she has done many previous projects with.

Veljkissa / Brother cat - The Shared Adventure 2016 is about love:

"Welcome to the fountain of memories. This is a Story about undying love.
When someone you have a deep affection for becomes a memory, that memory will be your treasure.
That's what happened to our little guy, who never imagined his brother would be so far away.  But he knows that they will meet again in Nangijala or some other place". 

Instincta owns and runs the Valo gallery with Stem.

She also has a booth at Galleria Kakku and a sculpture on our courtyard. If you have not visited yet, now is the time!

Vio series by Pieni and opening of exhibit by Karma Weymann today 12pmSLT

I have owned Galleria Kakku for a while now and finally decided to get my act together and showcase some of my own art. I have had exhibits in Second Life before but quite sporadically. I do some art in real life, but not as much as I would like to.

Vio is a series of 22 images made by combining Second Life photography and materials such as watercolor papers on Gimp. I have also included a quote that inspired me.

While I was doing a blog post about the Small World Art Gallery, I decided to rent a little shop at their mall. My series is now also available there. This place is good for visibility, so I recommend it to any artist. They have events that bring a lot of people. And plenty of great art to inspire you. (adult sim)

Today Saturday June 11th, at 12pm SLT they have the opening of an exhibit by Karma Weymann, who has not showcased in Second Life before but has quite a following on Flickr. There is going to be a dj and she is promising that these are her best works for your viewing pleasure.

Art Walk post Nr 4: Sculptures by Silas Merlin, Kicca Igaly, Nessuno Myoo

Silas Merlin has his sculptures up at Art Walk. I failed to mention this in the previous blog post. His piece called "Artist in a bubble" is available at Galleria Kakku, as well.

Kicca Igaly has been in SL since 2007, and I found her piece Soap Bubbles very interesting and clever. You could take pictures of it for quite a while and get very different looks. She has her own gallery in connection with those of Desy Magic and Nessuno Myoo, whose work is next to hers at Heron Shire.

These three galleries definitely deserve a closer, more detailed, look.

Third post about our Galleria Kakku artists featured at Art Walk: Silas Merlin and Uleria Caramel

This is the third post about our Galleria Kakku artists featured at Art Walk 2016. Two different artists on the same platform high up.

Silas Merlin has his own gallery at New Babbage and makes both 2D and 3D art. You definitely need to see his sculptures as well as his paintings. His works are amazing lifelike views into every day moments elevated by his appreciative eye. The selection he has at art walk also includes some of his clever fantasy themed images.

Uleria Caramel is showcasing some of her coal drawings, digital art and digital photo art both from last year and this one. She is offering a free gift by her info sign. Her art is available on Marketplace and in several galleries around the grid. She recently donated an original piece for a good cause, as you may remember from the blog post.

Second post about Art Walk: Kimly Crystal, Kayly Iali, Etherea Parrott, RedGoddess

I have to start my second post about Art Walk with a personal note. I absolutely adore the work Kimly Crystal did. These images are full of color, depth and imagination. And I am not just saying that because she is my SL sister and will tickle my footpaws. Neither do I say it just because she used me as a model. I did love getting my fancy art gallery owner mustache in the close up. Her art is by the Theatre doorway on left.

Kayly Iali's works are to the right of the theatre door, towards the back, on the exterior wall. Her watercolors and calligraphy are excellent. As you know she is a trained artist, showcasing in real life as well as in SL, and owns Gallery 24 at Avalon. I wrote a profile on her some time ago, as she is one of the artists of Galleria Kakku. I love her ability to show how special every day things and moments can be.

I always knew Etheria Parrott was a multitalented person. She was an important part of the team who built the new Raglan Shire sim and is well known for creating the dinkies. But I had not realised how amazing she is as a painter. Her works are between Kimly's and Kayly's on two levels.

I happened to see RedGoddess setting up her art, and we had a nice chat. We had met before at one of the readings at her gallery. Make sure to check out her works on one of the upper platforms. Also visit Gallery Rouge and SpeakEasy, where they have open mic poetry and story readings every Sunday at 11am SLT.

Do you know how to get around in Raglan Shire? Apart from the popular Art Walk feature, the caterpillar, you can use the slingshot. Just sit on it and click your destination in the menu that pops up. There are slingshots everywhere on the sim.

You can of course use the tour acorn as well, if it stops by near you.

I decided to do a series of blog posts from Art Walk 2016, having seen so many of our Galleria Kakku artists there.

We start off with Eleseren Brianna, whose fashion photographs are striking. No wonder, as she has degrees for, and has worked as, an illustrator and a Couture Designer Dressmaker in real life. She used to own Romance Couture in Second Life and now works as a COO and a fashion contributor for Windlight Magazine. I did see some other subjects from her as well. She is definitely a great artist, and has experience from the Inworldz art scene before branching out in Second Life.

Her art is on one of the platforms up in the air, near Johannes1977, also one of our very own talents. I wrote a profile on him a while back in this blog.

Red Nose Charity event with live music, dj's and art for great cause!

The Red Nose Charity Event (May 14th, 11 am - 5 pm SLT) is now open. This is the finale event of months of work by Kimly Crystal. She is collecting money for CliniClowns, a Dutch charity that helps sick children. She is doing a lot for the same cause in real life, all in memory of her rl baby daughter.

Come see the awesome performers, dance, honk some clown noses, and buy fantastic art. Uleria Caramel and Instincta Van Helsinki (of Valaskala LEA19 fame) donated beautiful pieces of art for the cause! You may be aware that they both are featured at Galleria Kakku. And I saw Uleria's art at Art Walk, too!

Here is a Linden Endowment for the Arts exhibit I recommend you see and hear. Valaskala, a sound installation by Instincta & Stem van Helsinki, March 13th - June 30th, 2016, takes you to a distorted space and time in a unique way.

While star traveling across the constellation of Cetus and it's aquatic neighbors, you get to enjoy the symphony.

Instincta and Stem are a Finnish artist couple you might know for their installations over the years. They own and run VALO gallery, which they started in 2013. And for Galleria Kakku visitors wishing to see their work, I have the Jatulinkivi sculpture by Instincta in the courtyard.

Artist Profile: Johannes1977

Johannes1977 is a well known artist, publisher and curator in Second Life. Combining black and white photography with sepia and a few other choice colors he has created a trademark vintage look for his artwork. See his Flickr photostream here.

Having showcased his own art in several galleries and other locations over the years, Johannes 1977 runs the Creations Art Gallery as well. Housing some big names of the virtual art world, this gallery is definitely an important one.

Past exhibits include a LEA show called Seasons of Life, which can still be found on the LEA blog. There was "The German Collection" at Holly Kai Art Park in 2015 - curated by Inara Pey, "Scenes from a War" at The Rose Art Gallery in 2015 - curated by Shakti Adored, and many others.

Johannes1977 has also had exhibits during big events, for example "Kandis' Dance" special exhibition at One Billion Rising 2016, SL12B "Life is a Dream" Exhibition, 2015 Burn 2 Primordial and Santalarity events, 2015 Raglanshire Artwalk and various photos at Art in the Park.

Artist Profile: Kayly Iali

Kayly Iali, real name Marlene Lee, is an alla prima painter, who paints still lifes and abstracts as well as her first love: portraits. She graduated as a studio artist in 2009 from California State University at Sacramento. That same year she joined Second Life and has been exhibiting virtually since 2010. In real life she participates in art competitions and has been jurored into a couple major regional ones. She sells original paintings through Etsy.com and prints through Pixels.com. She is also a skilled calligrapher.

You should check out the real life blog, as there are amazing works there that Kayly has done. I especially loved the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge, during which she produced for example these abstracts, and a bunch of portraits, including a self portrait. I do enjoy the paintings of fruit, as well, they look ready to eat.

These paintings are only 2 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches.
Tiny oil paintings on paper.
They are known as ACEO, Artist Cards, Editions and Originals.
They are different from Artists Tradings Cards in that they can be sold.
They are done up quickly - in an hour. I can experiment, and not really worry about making this a perfect painting. They serve as warm up exercises for the bigger paintings.
